Rewards and Employee Engagement

Figure 1 Rewards

What is Employee Rewards?

Employee rewards are typically objects that have some monetary value attached to them. Awarding incentives is transactional, usually connected to particular performance criteria or work achievements. Organizations often implement employee reward systems to recognize and encourage employees for their efforts and contributions, both individually and collectively (Masud, 2023).

What Is Employee Engagement?

Employee engagement is a human resources (HR) concept that describes the level of enthusiasm and dedication a worker feels toward their job. Engaged employees care about their work and about the performance of the company, and feel that their efforts make a difference. An engaged employee is in it for more than a paycheck and may consider their well-being linked to their performance, and thus instrumental to their company's success (SMITH, 2022).

Rewards and Recognition in the Workplace: Boosting Employee Performance & Engagement

Think of the highest performing, most engaged employee you have ever encountered. What motivated them to show up each day with the same inspired attitude? Chances are, it was more than their base pay.

Companies need to offer much more than standard compensation to engage employees across the organization. Everyone’s competing for top talent. Combine that with a troubling labor shortage, and the situation becomes clear: you need to do everything you can to attract and retain the best talent possible. It’s the only way to consistently drive success in your organization.

Of course, this usually means offering the best options possible in terms of compensation and benefits packages. But that alone is not enough to retain talented employees. Employee engagement is something that happens at the cultural level (criterion, 2023).

The Four Pillars of Employee Engagement

Now that we understand what employee engagement is, let’s dive into the four pillars of employee engagement in a company. These four pillars provide a systematic and strategic approach to creating a maintaining employee engagement within an organization. Let’s explore each of these pillars in more detail to understand how they contribute to employee engagement and organizational success (Cheong, 2023).

         1. Communication

        3. Work-Life Balance

        4. Recognition and Rewards

CONCLUSIONS

This aimed at establishing the effect of rewards on employee engagement at organization. That was: direct financial benefits, indirect final benefits and non financial benefits. The findings of the study revealed that research, several factors contribute to employees’ engagement and commitment at the place of work. However, the contribution of these factors varies in strength and appeal to workers. It concerns the belief that work is worthwhile and meaningful enough to add value and significance to accomplishments at work.
