The Global context for HRM

Figure 1The Global Context for HRM

Introduction

In a world where globalization has meant that employees can work for international organizations across the planet, there is a need for human resource management (HRM) practices that are considered within a global context. This international perspective must take into account migration, ethics, governance, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, change management, work-life balance, and diversity and inclusion. Of course, legal and regulatory requirements will also be different from country to country. With globalization, also comes the challenge of cultural difference. This can be in the case of an international business opening up into new territories but also when employees move to different offices around the world and become expatriates (Brooks, 2021).

New perspectives on human resource management in a global context

The global war for talent discussed in the preceding sections has both theoretical and practical implications, including the need to develop new perspectives in understanding and studying the emerging and evolving trends in HRM in a global context, the focus of this paper. These include: One, multicultural teams are here to stay and the dynamics associated with such multicultural teams; and, two, brain circulation and their implications for IHRM (sciencedirect, 2016).

Top 5 HR International Challenges in the Global Workforce

When growing and attracting new talent into your company internationally, make sure your HR department is aware of the many international human resource issues that may arise concerning performance management and employee development. Differences in time and culture can bring about many international HR challenges, such as breaking local employment laws, creating a healthy work environment, administering ethical HR policies, managing people globally, and training international talent (Diard, n.d.).

What is the impact of globalization on human resource management?

Explore the broad influence of globalization on Human Resource Management (HRM) in the interconnected world.

In the contemporary landscape of business, the term 'globalization' has become a pervasive buzzword, signifying the interconnectedness of our world in ways previously unimaginable.

As our planet has become increasingly connected through technology and communication, this phenomenon has inevitably made its mark on various facets of business operations. One of the areas most significantly impacted by globalization is Human Resource Management (HRM) (studyonline, 2022).

Conclusion

As mentioned above it is crucial to develop strategies to look into human resource management in global context. Accordingly, there are many benefits which may support the organization in getting the host country nationals, third country nationals or the expatriates as those employees may have a better exposure in getting the things right.
